Reactive Distress Ink

I saw Jennifer McGuire use a technique called ‘Reactive Distress Ink Watercolour’ and I thought I’d have a go myself. I did struggle a bit with the messy look so I’m not sure if I’d use this technique that often. It was fun to try, though, and shows how amazing distress inks are for different techniques.

How I made this card:

I stamped the greeting first, then masked it off, allowing me to stamp behind it.

Then I stamped the flowers and stem outlines from the pretty peonies stamp set in black ink onto watercolour paper. I chose two colours of distress ink and stamped the flowers. Once stamped, I quickly gave them each a spritz of water to move the distress ink around. I added the stems in green, then flicked some colour onto the card to add to the messy look.

I trimmed down the watercolour piece to fit an a6 card front. I decided it needed a little extra something, so added a strip of coloured chevron paper and a thin strip of gold glitter paper to the bottom edge. As usual, I finished it off with some sequins.
