MFT have a colour challenge on their blog and this time the colour palette is red, pink, grey and blue. I liked the combination so thought I’d have a go at making a card with the falls florals set and these colours. I decided to combine the MFT sketch challenge too.
How I made this card:
On white cardstock, I blended together three colours of distress ink – spun sugar, picked raspberry, and barn door. I then spritzed it with water and perfect pearls, and used the heat gun to dry it. I die cut a larger stitched tag from this and set it aside.
Next, I stamped flowers and leaves from the Fall Florals stamp set. I stuck to the colour palette of red, pink, blue, and grey. I then die cut these out.
Once I’d decided on a layout, I attached the tag to the card front using foam tape. The flowers and leaves were attached using foam tape and micro dots.
For the sentiment, I heat embossed in silver on white card, and cut down to make a banner before attaching to the card.
I finished the card with a few sequins.
Products used to make this card:
- MFT Fall florals stamps and dies
- MFT Birthday greetings stamp set
- Distress inks
- Memento dye inks
- Hero Arts silver embossing powder
- Pretty Pink Posh sequins
I’m entering this card into the following competitions:

These are beautiful! Do you have any tips for die cutting the stamped images, since the dies are not open?

Thank you!
I make a template for die cuts that aren’t open as it makes cutting out the stamps so much easier. Basically the template is just the negative space you get after die cutting an image.
I stamp my image, then place the template over the stamped image. Tape it down so it doesn’t move. Place the die in the space in the template and run through the die machine. You can keep the templates with your dies and use them again and again.
Hope that makes sense 😄
