I always enjoy making shaker cards. When I saw the squirrel with his cart of acorns in the MFT Harvest Buddies set, I thought it would work so well for a shaker card with acorns falling from the tree.
I coloured the images with Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils, then die cut them all out. For the leaves and acorns, I stamped the reverse side of each one, once they’d been die cut, then coloured them as well. Although it’s the reverse side, the stamps actually worked pretty well on the die cut images. These will go in the shaker so, if the images turn around, now they will have something on both sides.
For the shaker, I used a lovely mix from Lucy’s Cards called ‘Fallen Leaves’ (very appropriately named). I added the leaves and acorns too, so it’ll look like they are falling from the tree.
I combined two stamps from the set to get the sentiment ‘It’s Your Birthday Go Nuts!’. The frame around the shaker window is cut out from red chevron paper from the MFT Fresh Squeezed Chevron Paper Pack, using a MFT Single Stitched Rectangle Frame die.
On top of the acetate window, I stuck down the squirrel, birds, and a few falling acorns and leaves onto the acetate.
