Handmade Cards, Pretty Pink Posh DT

Puppy Spinner

There are two pairs of stamps in the Pretty Pink Posh Playful Puppies set that mirror each other, perfect for a spinner card.

I chose a pair of the puppy images for my card, stamping them in black ink and colouring them with warm gray copics. I then die cut them with the coordinating dies. I think the coordinating dies are really worth having with this set, especially when creating a spinner card as they cut the mirror images to line up perfectly.

I die cut a rectangle frame from a piece of white card, using a die from the PPP Stitched Notes set. I then positioned this in place on a card base, holding it in place with post it tape, and ran them through my die cutting machine together with a PPP Scalloped Circle Frame die. This will cut the circle in both the card base and the rectangle so they match up exactly when you put the card together. Don’t forget to open out the card base first, so the circle doesn’t cut through to the back.

On the rectangle and circle frame, I blended distress oxide inks in peacock feathers and cracked pistachio. To add some interest, I stamped some of the smaller images from the Playful Puppies set in the same inks. I love the tone on tone effect.

To create the spinner element, I used a strand of metallic silver thread stuck between the two puppies. I added lots of strong adhesive to the card base, before placing the puppies on the card. I made sure to pull the thread taut and press it down into the adhesive so it stuck really well. I added more adhesive to the rectangle piece, then stuck this down over the top.

Next, I die cut the stitched rectangle again, this time from a piece of patterned paper. I adhered this onto the inside of the card to show through behind the puppy.

To finish, I chose a sentiment from the PPP Everyday Greetings set, stamping it on the front of the card with versafine onyx black ink.

I love how well the puppy spins around! If you haven’t tried making a spinner card before, I’d really recommend having a go. They are great fun!
