Handmade Cards

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 48

Today I’m joining in the Lawn Fawnatics challenge #48, which is to create a card inspired by a book, movie or song.

I decided to recreate the Angler Fish scene from Finding Nemo using the new Magic Picture Changer. It’s where Dory and Marlin see a pretty light, then suddenly a scary angler fish appears. The Lawn Fawn angler fish isn’t nearly as scary as the one from the film, thankfully!

I used the following Lawn Fawn products to create my underwater scene:

  • You are Sublime
  • Duh-Nuh
  • Mermaid for You
  • Fancy Wavy Banners
  • Really Rainbow Scallop 6×6 papers

For my ink blending, I used distress oxides in blueprint sketch, peacock feathers and broken china.

A tip I learned is to wait for the inked background to properly dry before die cutting and assembling the magic picture changer. The first time I tried this, I was too impatient. When I tried to assemble the picture changer, it didn’t work. The second time, I left it to dry overnight and went back to it in the morning, and it worked much better.

If you don’t know the angler fish scene, it’s worth googling it to have a look.
