Spellbinders July 2020 Clubs Inspiration Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m excited to be joining this blog hop, sharing inspiration using the Spellbinders July 2020 Clubs!

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the fabulous Jeanne Jachna. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

For my card, I’ve combined the Large and Small Die of the Month kits. These kits are available separately as monthly subscriptions. They are also available together as Value club options.

I began by foiling the Modern Lines glimmer plate onto white card with rainbow foil (sold separately to the kits). I then die cut the Large Die of the Month ‘How Does Your Garden Grow Alphabet’ from this panel, to spell the word ‘celebrate’. I also die cut the letters twice more from white card, then layered the letters for dimension.

From the Ornamental Floral Card Creator small die of the month, I die cut the ornamental border die four times from white card, layering two together to get two stacked borders.

Next, I added some distress oxide ink in Speckled Egg and Peacock Feathers ink to a slimline card base. I kept the centre white to add a nice glow effect. I then flicked the panel with water and also some white acrylic paint for lots of texture.

As the ornamental border is sized for an A2 card, it’s wider than my slimline card base. I adhered the borders at the top and bottom of my card, then trimmed off the edges that overlapped. I think the border works really well in this format.

Finally, I adhered the rainbow foiled letters in the centre of my card to finish.

  6. What a clever use for rainbow foil – creating the stripe to use with the thin letters! You’ve definitely got me thinking of new uses for this month’s dies and my glimmer items.
