Today I’m excited to be sharing a look at the new Shader Brush 3 Plus flat tip brushes from Waffle Flower, which launched today.
Waffle Flower have also launched today the Plus versions of their Shader 2 brush and a sampler pack of Plus brushes. These follow the launch last month of the Plus versions of Shader Brushes 0 & 1.
Waffle Flower kindly sent me a set of the 3+ brushes and a sampler plus pack to try out. I haven’t had chance to try the sampler pack yet, but it would be a great option for those wanted to test out the new plus versions of the shader brushes.
About the Shader Brush Plus Versions
The brushes are made from high-quality ultra soft bristles. The original shader brushes were designed to add colours gradually. The Plus versions allow you to apply a dense layer of ink very quickly, and work especially well with stencils.
I created a card using the Classic Books die set and Layering Stencil. I die cut some of books in the Classic Books die set from different colours of C&9th card.
I used my Waffle Flower grip mat to keep the die cut pieces and the Classic Books layering stencil in place. I then used the Shader 3+ brushes to add the stencilled detail with distress oxide inks.
I applied the colour using a ‘drag-n-lift’ motion. It was really easy and quick using the 3+ brushes. They also allow more precision than larger blending brushes, which is particularly useful with the layering stencils.
I created each of the books with a mix of both stencilling and die cut accents. There are lots of combinations to create different styles of books.
On an A2 card base, I adhered a strip of woodgrain card, to act as a shelf. I then added the books with foam tape. I finished the card by adding a label maker sentiment above the stack of books.
