Pretty Pink Posh 10th Birthday Celebration Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m pleased to be joining this blog hop celebrating the Pretty Pink Posh 10th Birthday Celebration and the February release!

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from Mindy Eggen. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

My card features the new Birthday Candles die set, a fabulous building set that allows for lots of fun variations in style and colour. I chose a colour theme for this card that I think works well for a masculine birthday – blues and teals.

I die cut the Birthday Candles pieces from various pieces of C&9th cardstock. The candle flames are die cut from a Papermill Direct gold sparkle card.

For the background, I die cut some patterned paper using a previously released set – Stitched Torn Rectangles. I added this to the centre of an A2 card base. I adhered the candles across the card using foam strips for dimension.

Next, I die the birthday word and shadow from the new Happy Birthday Shadow die set. I used a Papermill Direct gold glitter card for the scripty word and vellum for the shadow.

To finish the sentiment, I white heat embossed a sentiment on black card. This is partly stamped from a greeting in the Sentiment Strips: Birthday stamp set. I trimmed this down with a die in the Sentiment Strips die set.

To add some extra sparkle and interest, I added some gold glitter stars around the candles. These are cut using one of the dies in the Birthday Candles die set.

  2. Gemma, this is a wonderful card. Using the gray background is a great idea for helping give this a ‘masculine’ look. The blue candles are so fun and the glittering gold add a special touch of elegance. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
