A special birthday card to share today. This is for my gorgeous nephew, who has just turned 2. He adores the Disney Cars movie so I made this card for his parents to give him for his birthday.
I started with the background, blending distress inks to make a night background. I then flicked it with water, perfect pearls, and white paint to create stars.
I drew the Lightning McQueen car in Adobe Illustrator, then resized it to fit on the card. I printed it out on white card, then coloured with promarkers. I layered some parts of the image for dimension. I added Stickles Glitter to the headlights and lightning bolt, which gave a lovely sparkly effect. I used googly eyes which give so much character.
I drew the Cars 2 logo in Illustrator, adding my nephews name in a font similar to the Cars movie font. I printed this out onto card, then coloured them with promarkers.
I used a Versamark pen to trace the name, then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. I also used this technique around the edges, to give a metallic look to the logo. I die cut a ‘2’ from silver glitter paper using the Avery Elle Count On It die set, then attached it to the logo.
I thought the card needed a border, so I created a black and white chequered flag border in Illustrator and printed it out. Then I put all the elements together onto an A5 card.
This card was really fun to make. I love the starry night sky background, the metallic logo, and the Lightning McQueen car with his googly eyes.
