I always enjoy making a Chinese New Year card each year. I love using vibrant red with gold, such rich colours look fabulous.
This year, I wanted a fun card that my nephew would like. The Luna Elephants stamp set by Mama Elephant is perfect.
I started by stamping three roosters with memento tuxedo black ink, then colouring them with polychromos colouring pencils. I then cut them out with the matching dies.
I die cut three gold Polaroid frames, using a Mama Elephant die, and arranged them on a bright red card base. Once I’d decided on a layout, I put the frames aside whilst I added a greeting, from the MFT Holiday Greetings stamp set, heat embossed in gold.
To give the card a playful look, I positioned the roosters to peek out from different angles. I added a little adhesive to the frame, to keep the roosters in place, trimming off any excess before attaching the frames and roosters to the card with adhesive tape.
To finish the card, I added some washi tape to the Polaroid frames, and a gold glitter heart near the sentiment.
