I’m having fun joining in with the MFT sketch challenges. Sketches are definitely my favourite type of challenge – I love having a starting point and figuring out how to interpret it. This is my card for sketch challenge 356.
I started by die cutting a rounded rectangle from the blueprints 31 set. From this, I partially die cut a stitched rainbow along the top edge. This creates a rainbow that remains part of the panel. I used a craft knife to cut out the centre of the rainbow.
Rather than trying to add colour to the rainbow on the panel, I added another rainbow on top, which I used distress inks to colour.
On a card base, I blended on a light blue ink over the clouds stencil, to add some sky detail behind the rainbow panel. I then layered the panel on top, using foam tape for dimension. It’s tricky to capture the cloud detail in photos, as the ink is very light, but it’s lovely in real life.
I die cut a banner using another die from a blueprints set. I shortened it to fit, then added a sentiment from the Essential Sentiments stamp set.
To finish, I added some silver glitter hearts, die cut using a die from the stitched strip die-namics.
Here is the sketch. It’s a loose interpretation from me this week, with the oversized rainbow element, but that’s the fun of sketches:
