I seem to be using my distress oxide inks on everything right now! I was a little late to the party and, frankly, wasn’t sure what all the fuss was about! That was until I got a set, and they really are as fabulous as everyone says!
I got the WPlus9 Holiday Trimmings stamp set out again for my card today. I’m expanding on the masking idea from my last card using this set, and this time I’m covering the entire card base!
I created lots of tree masks, plus some circle masks in different sizes. I remembered to keep some space free for a sentiment, which I’ll add later, Then I blended abandoned coral distress oxide ink all over.
After removing the masks, I stamped in black ink some decorative images from the same stamp set. I deliberately kept the stamping quite loose and didn’t keep within the lines. Finally, I stamped the sentiment to finish.
The distress oxide inks have a lovely soft look to them, and are so easy to blend. It makes them perfect for creating a background like this.
I love this card! Might have to borrow this idea for making some of my own Christmas cards this year – I got distress oxide inks for my birthday early this month and I’ve only used them once so far but they were so much fun to blend. I really feel like getting those inks has opened up my card making options, especially for nice and simple one layer cards.

Thank you!
I find I reach for the oxides more and more now. They are just so easy to blend.
