The spotlighting technique is one of my favourites for using on cards. I thought I’d try it with the new Sparkle Dot Patterns 2 set.
I die cut two scalloped frames, in the smaller size, from white card. I used one as a guide to know where to stamp my sentiment, one of my favourites from the new Encouraging Greetings stamp set.
On a white card base I stamped two of the balloon patterns in a pale ink colour, making sure to have some of the stamping inside and outside of a scallop frame.
Anything inside the frame will have colour. I chose two colours of 4mm sequins – lime sorbet and pink blush. For the dots outside of the frame, I chose 4mm marshmallow sequins. These will cover the stamped dots and won’t be too visible on the white card stock base.
I continued to use the scalloped frame as a guide, to help me decide where to add the marshmallow or coloured sequins. I added the sequins with multi medium matte liquid glue.
Finally, I used some scor tape to add the two scalloped frames on top. A couple of layers of frame adds dimension and hides any areas where the sequins sit directly underneath.
Thanks for joining me today.
