Handmade Cards, Pretty Pink Posh DT

Cherry Blossom Hugs

Today I’m sharing a card to celebrate the news that I’m designing for Pretty Pink Posh again this term. Yay!

My card features the new Hugs Shaker die from Pretty Pink Posh. I love these dies for their versatility. You can use them to make shakers or not, use just the word by cutting it away from the frame, dry emboss with them…. so many possibilities.

I teamed the Hugs Shaker with some Cherry Blossom flowers and leaves. On a piece of white card, I used distress oxides in tattered rose, picked raspberry and shaded lilac to add a watercolour smooshed look. I added some gold perfect pearls and some sparkle spray. This is a fun messy technique, and gives some lovely texture.

I dried the card with a heat tool, then stamped the cherry blossoms on top in black ink and die cut them with the coordinating dies. For the leaves, I decided to do some simple copic colouring, to allow the flowers to stand out more.

I cut a piece of white card to be the same size as my card base, then die cut the Hugs Shaker die from the centre of it. I also die cut the shaker from gold glitter paper.

I added some pale blue watercolour paper to the card base (it’s tricky to capture the colour on camera), then adhered the white card panel over the top. I then inset the gold glitter Hugs shaker into the die cut space.

I added the flowers and leaves around the shaker window, using foam tape behind a couple of the flowers for dimension. To finish, I added some of the new Metallic Gold jewels around the card, to compliment the gold on the flowers.
