Castle Firework Celebration

I’m very excited to share the news that I’ve joined the WOW Embossing Design Team! WOW is a fabulous U.K. company that make the most amazing embossing powders and glitters – a real must have for card makers!

I wanted to share a card today to celebrate the news. This card was inspired by my recent family holiday to Disneyland Paris. The fireworks display over the Disney castle is amazing. Fireworks are perfect for having lots of fun with the fabulous embossing powders and glitters from WOW.

I began by working on the background. I blended distress oxide inks onto a white card panel to create a night sky. I used picked raspberry, wilted violet, blueprint sketch, faded jeans and black soot. Using a border die from Lawn Fawn, I die cut a stitched hillside. I blended lucky clover distress oxide ink onto this, along with a little black soot ink to darken it around the edges.

I put both these panels aside to dry and started work on some other elements for the card. I stamped a castle from the MFT Once Upon a Time stamp set. I coloured it with copics and then die cut it out. I also added some Wink of Stella glitter for some extra sparkle.

Now for the fun part! I die cut the MFT wow word die from white card with stick it adhesive on the top. I removed the adhesive backing and added lots of the WOW Sparkles in Ballet Shows. This glitter is absolutely gorgeous! I die cut the letters again from foam sheet, and layered the sparkly letters on top.

With the distress inked panel now dry, I could start adding the fireworks. I stamped the layered fireworks on to the sky scene with the WOW Clear Ultra Slow embossing pad. I then used the WOW heat tool to emboss with an assortment of different metalline powders and glitters. This gives lots of beautiful sparkle and shine on the card. I embossed each layer before adding the next, gradually building up the scene. I also added some stars to the sky to fill any gaps.
