Handmade Cards, Hello Bluebird DT

Hello Bluebird Trick or Treat

Today I’m sharing a fun comic book style card featuring the fabulous Hello Bluebird Trick or Treat stamp set.

I love the graphic look of this style and it’s one of favourite designs to create as a card. You’ll need to do a little fussy cutting but otherwise it’s very quick and easy to do.

I began by die cutting the HB Gallery 3 die from white card. I blended Hickory Smoke distress ink onto the outside frame, before adhering it to a card base. I also adhered the white inner frame to the card base.

The gallery frame cuts 6 squares. On these squares, I stamped images from the HB Trick or Treat stamp set. I created masks using post it tape, fussy cutting them out before covering the stamped images.

Using distress oxide inks in Hickory Smoke, Carved Pumpkin, and Wilted Violet, I blended on colour to each of the squares. I love removing the masks to see the white images underneath.

I had originally planned to copic colour the images, but I loved the white against the solid colour backgrounds. I decided to only add copic colour to a few areas of the images. I chose pens to match the backgrounds so as not to introduce any new colours. I then adhered the squares into the frame on the card base.

To finish the card, I stamped a greeting from the HB Halloween Fun stamp set, which fits perfectly on the frame. I also used a black copic fineliner to go over some of the stamped lines, like the spider’s legs, that had disappeared under the oxide ink.
