Every year I make one Chinese New Year Card to send to my niece and nephew. I love the bold colours and prints so I always enjoy making it. This year, I reached for my Hello Bluebird supplies, finding the perfect items for my Year of the Pig card.
I began with the frame, die cutting the Gallery Frame 2 die from gold mirror card and also red glitter card. I’ll keep the pieces I don’t use for another project.
On my card base, I blended festive berries and candied apple distress oxide inks over the Altenew Square Weave stencil. I then adhered the gold outer frame and red glitter inner frame to my card.
I stamped and coloured two of the pigs from Merry Pigs, then die cut them with the coordinating dies. I love that the dies for this set cut the images so they can hold things. I decided to give the pigs some red packets to hold. The envelopes I used are from the Pig Day stamp set.
I stamped a greeting from the North Star stamp set, then adhered the pigs underneath with foam squares.
From gold mirror card and some black foam sheet, I die cut 2019 with the Charlie Number dies and layered the gold offset over the black foam. This helps the numbers to show up against the background and also gives some dimension.
I finished by adding some gel pen details and Wink of Stella clear glitter to the pigs.
Such a beautiful card Gemma!! The colors and design are amazing:)
