Heffy Friends July 2019 Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m so excited to be joining the Heffy Friends blog hop, celebrating the Heffy Doodle July release!

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the fabulous Lisa Tilson. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

Card 1

My first card features the fabulously fun You’re Weird stamp set, along with the Twinkle Twinkle stencil and the Stitched Stars die set.

I began with the dry embossed background, one of my favourite techniques for adding texture and interest to a background. I ran a piece of white card through my die cutting machine with the two smallest dies from the Stitched Stars die set.

You may need to play around with the die cutting sandwich to get the correct pressure. Too much and it will cut through the card, but too little and it won’t emboss.

Once this was done, I adhered the panel to my card base, then stamped a sentiment from the You’re Weird stamp set inside one of the embossed stars. It fits in the space very well.

On a smaller piece of card, I added colour with distress oxide inks in dried marigold, picked raspberry, seedless preserves and chipped sapphire. I dried the panel with my heat tool, then used the Twinkle Twinkle stencil with WOW Diamond White embossing glitter to add some stars to the sky.

I stamped lots of images from the You’re Weird stamp set, colouring them with copic markers and die cutting them with the coordinating dies. I adhered them to my card base with either liquid glue or foam tape.

For some finishing touches, I added some Pretty Pink Posh Marigold jewels to the space ship and Pearl White jewels around the sentiment.

Card 2

My second card features the beautiful layering floral set called Blooming Marvellous. I love the style of these flowers and thought they would be perfect for embossed layering. I teamed them with the new Brick by Brick stencil and the Celebrate word die.

I stamped lots of flowers and leaves from the Blooming Marvellous stamp set with Altenew dye inks, choosing some rich deep colours. For the second layer of the flowers, I used some different WOW Metallic embossing powders to heat emboss them. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

For my card background, I first die cut a A6 rectangle using the Metric Stitched Rectangle dies. I love this previously released set from Heffy Doodle as it’s so hard to find metric rectangle sets for crafting, especially ones with beautiful stitching details.

On this card panel, I used some WOW clear embossing ink to stamp over the Brick by Brick stencil. I kept the ink to the right side of the card and deliberately faded out the stencilled area. I heat embossed it with WOW Primary Goose embossing powder, which is a grey translucent powder and works really well for the brick texture.

I adhered the panel to my card base, then created three clusters of flowers and leaves and adhered them too. I used foam squares for the largest flower in each cluster.

I die cut the Celebrate word die three times – once from white card and twice from dark grey. I offset the white card layer at the bottom of the stacked sentiment, then adhered it to my card.

To finish my card, I adhered some Pretty Pink Posh Pearl White, Metallic Gold, and Espresso jewels to the flower centres.
