I have a CAS slimline card to share today, using the Bee Happy set from Hello Bluebird. I’m really enjoying working with this new card size and playing around with different layout styles using the extra space.
I love to leave ‘white space’ in my designs. White space doesn’t have to mean white in colour, though. It just stands for unused or negative space between design elements. In the case of my card today, I’ve added a blend of distress oxide inks in abandoned coral, wild honey and squeezed lemonade for my ‘white space’.
Over the top of the ink blending, I used a stencil from Sugar Pea Designs to add a honeycomb design over the top. I used the same colours already blended on the card, so it’s a subtle pattern.
For more texture on my background, I flicked it with a mix of water and perfect pearls in gold and bronze.
To add some areas on my card for the Bee Happy bees to sit, I die cut three hexagons from the card panel, using the Sugar Pea Designs Stacked Honeycombs die set. I then used two of the dies to create a white card frame, then the smaller die to cut a honeycomb from gold pearlescent card.
I adhered my panel to my slimline card base, then adhered the honeycomb white frames and the gold centres into the spaces on the card.
I stamped and copic coloured images from the Hello Bluebird Bee Happy stamp set, using the coordinating dies to cut them out.
Before adding my images with foam tape, I stamped a greeting from the same set on the card, and also some flying trails in abandoned coral distress oxide ink.
Finishing touches are some white and black gel pen details on the bees and some clear glitter pen on the pot of honey.
