Happy Lockdown Birthday

So many of us, me included, will spend our birthdays in lockdown this year. I thought I’d make a lockdown birthday card for a little fun.

Being a Campbell, the Altenew Tartan stamp set was a must for me. The Campbell tartan is tricky to recreate so I’ve gone with as close an interpretation as I can.

On a piece of Arctic Blue classic card from Tonic Studios, I stamped the main lines with Versafine onyx black ink. I went for a blue base instead of white so it’ll tone in with the ink colours should any peek through the stamping.

I stamped the squares with Altenew ink cubes, in the colours volcano lake, lagoon and dusk. I double stamped these for stronger colours.

Once the ink was dry, I stamped the striped pattern over the top of the squares in darker colours. I just love the fabric texture effect this gives to the background. I used lagoon ink over the volcano lake squares, emerald ink over the lagoon squares, and desert night over the dusk squares.

I then stamped the rest of the tartan lines and the little squares where the lines meet with Versafine onyx black ink.

I added some stitching detail with a Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching rectangle die. I heat embossed sentiments from the Altenew Birthday Builder stamp set with WOW Opaque White super fine embossing powder. I then adhered the panel to my card base.

For the main word, I die cut the Altenew Simple Alphas from white card four times, layering them for a stacked sentiment. I used liquid glue to adhere the letters to the card.

If sending to someone Scottish, I think it would be fun to change the word to loch-down for a fun Scottish reference.
