Pretty Pink Posh June 2020 Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m pleased to be joining this blog hop, celebrating the Pretty Pink Posh June release! 

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the fabulous Heather Hoffman. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

I love the jungle theme of the June release. All the products work so well together. For my card today, I’ve used the Layered Leaves & Flowers stencil set, Monkey Friends and Simple Sentiments stamp sets, and the Stitched Strips die set.

I began with the Layered Leaves & Flowers stencil. This fabulous stencil has 3 layers to help build a beautiful background. I wanted to emboss both the flowers and berries, so I started with these layers. I chose WOW Primary Pink Robin for the flowers and, as this a translucent powder, it’s best to emboss it first so the leaves don’t show underneath.

The flower centres and berries are heat embossed with WOW Opaque Pastel Yellow. As an opaque powder, this can be embossed over the flowers and still show up well.

I then used distress oxide inks in Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover for the stencilled leaves, pouncing on the ink with an ink blending tool. I used a cloth to gently remove any ink from the embossed areas afterwards. To add texture, I flicked the panel with lots of water droplets. Once the panel was dry, I trimmed it down to about a 3/4 the width of my card base, adhering it with double sided tape.

Next, I die cut one of the Stitched Strips dies from FSJ Sweet Berry cardstock, which matches the embossed flowers perfectly. I used WOW Opaque Bright White Super Fine embossing powder to emboss a sentiment from the Simple Sentiments stamp set. I then adhered this stitched strip along the edge of the stencilled background. I love a vertically aligned sentiment and the bright white really pops against the pink.

I used the Stitched Strips dies again, this time to cut a thin strip of black pearlescent card to go next to the sentiment strip. I love that the die set includes this thin strip as it’s not always easy to cut these with a trimmer, plus the added stitched detail is so pretty.

To complete my card, I added two of the sweet monkeys from the Monkey Friends stamp set. The images are coloured with copic markers (E50 shades) and die cut with the coordinating dies. I added them to my card with foam tape for dimension.
