Spellbinders July 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit

Today I’m sharing a card I made with the Spellbinders July 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil kit and the add-on set.

This month, you get the Illustrative Floral set, which features 3 decorative glimmer frames and 3 smaller decorative elements. There’s also an add-on available – the Essential Labels die cut the Illustrative Floral set perfectly.

The Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil kit is a monthly subscription and a great way to build your collection of glimmer plates and foils.

You will need the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine to use with this subscription, plus a compatible die cutting machine. I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. A list of compatible machines is available on the Spellbinders website.

For my card, I used the Glimmer Kit and the Essential Labels add-on to create an elegant foiled design.

I began by foiling the 3 largest of the glimmer plates on white card. I used an ombre of glimmer foils in Teal, Skybright, and Silver. I find that all 3 of these foils need an extra shim to get a good foiling. It’s not always necessary but worth experimenting.

I used the Essential Labels die set to cut the largest two into frames. I also die cut the Essentials labels again a few times from white card, but this time not into frames. I’ll use these pieces to add dimension.

I adhered the largest frame onto my card base. Next, I layered the middle frame onto two layers of labels and adhered into the space on the card.

For the smallest layer, I first added a black glimmer foiled sentiment, using a beautiful glimmer plate from Yana’s Sentiments set. I then layered this onto 3 more die cut labels, before adhering on to the card to finish.
