Handmade Cards, Pretty Pink Posh DT

Bee Friends

Today I have a hexagon shaped card to share, using some lovely products from Pretty Pink Posh. I enjoy making shaped cards as it’s something a bit different to the A2 or A6 cards I usually make.

For this card, I took the largest die from the Stitched Hexagon die set and positioned it on a card base so the top of the die overhangs the card fold. This means the fold remains in the card base. To get the die to cut through both layers of the card base, I used a metal shim in my die machine cutting sandwich. This gave me a lovely mini hexagonal card base.

I cut an additional stitched hexagon from white card to layer over my card base, which gives a cleaner look to the finished card. I added some distress oxide ink in tumbled glass and speckled egg, then some twisted citron ink near the bottom edge. Then I stamped a sentiment from the Bee Friends stamp set.

Next, I added a floral border from the Spring Days stamp set and some bees from the Bee Friends stamp set, which I’d coloured with copic markers.

As a finishing touch, I adhered some lemon drop jewels to the centre of the flowers and some white gel pen highlights.
