Pretty Pink Posh Birthday Celebration Blog Hop – Day 2

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m so excited to be joining this birthday celebration blog hop, celebrating the Pretty Pink Posh January 2021 release!

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the fabulous Tammy Stark. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

My card features the Let’s Party stamp set and the Layered Bokeh stencil set. I love the look of bokeh backgrounds, but hadn’t attempted to make one previously. These new stencils make it so easy to recreate this technique.

On some Bristol Smooth card, I blended on a rainbow of distress oxides – picked raspberry, abandoned coral, squeezed lemonade, tumbled glass and shaded lilac. I love how easily these colours blend together to show all the rainbow colours.

Ideally, leave the panel to dry for a while before the next step. I was a little impatient to try out the stencils, though!

I layered each stencil over the panel in turn, using a blending sponge to add Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink through the stencil. By having 3 layers to the stencil, you get the lovely random bokeh details that look very realistic.

Next, I stamped the fun birthday circle image from the Let’s Party stamp set. I used a rainbow of copic markers to colour in the image, then die cut it with the coordinating die. I also added a couple of blank die cut circles behind it for dimension.

I used the other coordinating die to cut a larger circle from pearlescent navy card and adhered that behind the smaller circles to give a border.

To turn this birthday circle into a balloon, I fixed a length of thread behind it before adhering the circle to my rainbow panel. I gave the thread a twirl to match the balloon images from the stamp, then used a little liquid glue to secure to the panel. Don’t use too much as the glue will reactivate the distress oxide inked background and leave white marks.

I secured the other end of the thread behind the panel before adhering it to my card base.

For the greeting, I white heat embossed one of the sentiment stamps from the Let’s Party stamp set onto a strip of the pearlescent navy card, then used foam tape to add to my card.

To add some finishing touches, I adhered some Pearl White jewels to the card (these are still my favourite jewels!) and covered some of the images on the birthday circle stamp with Nuvo White Blizzard glitter drops.
