Pretty Pink Posh October 2021 Release Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m so excited to be joining this blog hop, celebrating the Pretty Pink Posh October release! 

If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from Rachel Alvarado. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.

My card features the fabulous Layered Ornaments stencils. There are 3 stencils in this set – the ornaments, the tops and the decorations. I love the possibilities for colour combinations and using embossing or texture pastes.

I cut a panel of 6×6 card, to match the size of the stencil. I find this the easiest way to line up the different layers, and I’ll just cut it down later.

I used distress oxides in a rainbow of colours to ink through the first stencil layer, the ornaments themselves. Next, I added the tops of the ornaments with the second stencil layer.

For the decorative stencil layer, I used a glimmer paste in white to add subtle sparkle details. Do give the stencil a good clean immediately afterwards, so the paste doesn’t dry on the stencil. I left the panel to dry overnight before continuing with my card.

Once the glimmer paste layer was dry, I cut the panel down to 5.25 inches square and mounted on a white top folding card base.

To keep the focus on those beautiful ornaments, I kept the sentiment simple. I stamped ‘wishes’ from the Holiday Scripts stamp set directly on the card, then added an embossed sentiment from the same set above it. I embossed it on a pearlescent navy card, which gives a softer look than black. I also added some extra die cut layers behind for dimension.

  4. This is beautiful, and I love that you didn’t use black for the Christmas sentiment. I’ve been using navy a lot instead of black, and I think I like it better. This ornament stencil set is amazing!
