Handmade Cards, Spellbinders

Spellbinders January 2023 Clubs

Today I’m sharing cards made with the Spellbinders January 2023 Glimmer Hot Foil and Stitching clubs.

Club Details

The Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil club is a monthly subscription and a great way to build your collection of glimmer plates and foils.

You will need the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine to use with this subscription, plus a compatible die cutting machine. I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. A list of compatible machines is available on the Spellbinders website.

The Stitching Die of the Month is a new club for 2023. It’s a great way to add detail and texture to projects.

For those that want to join multiple clubs and save, Spellbinders offers Value Clubs.

Glimmer Hot Foil Club

This month, you get the Flower Delivery set, with 5 hot foil plates and 5 cutting dies. You also get a full roll of foil.

I decided to focus my card design on the classic car in this set, and made a new driver congratulations card.

I foiled the car from a selection of different foils, then die cut them out using the coordinating die.

The sentiment is from one of my favourite glimmer sets – Essential Glimmer Sentiments (available separately). I used black foil and cut the sentiment into a strip to add to my A2 card base.

I adhered the cars around the card, then trimmed away anything overhanging to finish.

For the sentiment, I used the standalone banner and greeting from the Glimmer Kit, cut from pale gold pearlescent card. I layered two more banners behind for dimension.

Stitching Die Club

This month, you get the Nested Stitched Burst set, with 5 cutting dies. There’s lots of versatility with how you can use the set – all the panels together or separately to get different looks.

There is also an add-on stamp set available, called Sentimental Greetings. The sentiments in this set are sized perfectly to work with the January Stitching Dies.

I die cut all 5 cutting dies together from a piece of white sparkle card. I won’t use the centre cut out piece as I’ll stamp my sentiment in the space.

I chose a rainbow of embroidery thread to add detail to the panels. I like to use 3 strands of the 6-ply thread. I secured the ends of the thread with double sided tape at the back.

Once all the stitching was done, I positioned them so I could stamp a sentiment from the Sentimental Greetings add on stamp set in the centre of an A2 card base. Then I adhered each panel down to finish.
