I’ve seen some lovely examples online of stamped and watercolour backgrounds with a bokeh effect. I thought it would be fun to have a go myself, and a good chance to try out one of my new sentiment stamps from Clearly Besotted.
The Avery Elle Bunting stamp set comes with several circle stamps in various sizes. I started by stamping my sentiment on scrap card and temporarily attaching it to a square piece of card. This protected the space from accidentally being stamped with circles, as I wanted some clear white space for the sentiment.
Using three colours of die ink, I stamped circles gradually getting smaller as I moved towards the centre of the card. First and second generation stamping helped create the Bokeh effect I was after.
I then stamped the Happy Birthday greeting from the Clearly Besotted stamp set in the white space left. I really love the font of this greeting.
I felt the card needed a bit of glitz, so I attached clear sequins to the card with liquid adhesive. Here’s hoping they stay on! It’s a lovely effect which is difficult to capture in a photograph but looks so pretty when the light catches them.
Finally, I added a star and some pretty pink twine to finish the card.
