Shaker Surprise Birthday Scene

The Birthday Scene stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh is so sweet and fun! This stamp is large enough to take centre stage on a card and is great for colouring.

I thought the scene was perfect for a surprise birthday party, so I created a secret shaker card.

I began by cutting a rectangle in a piece of white card to create a shaker window, then a narrow frame which I put aside for later.

I stamped the Birthday Scene image on a white card base, then added a mask to all the animals and balloons to protect them. Using some post it tape to temporarily attach the frame to the card base, I blended on distress oxide inks across both, fading the blend out to white towards the top.

I coloured the image with copics, then added some sequins from the new Pretty Pink Posh Spring Blooms Mix. I love the gorgeous pinks and purples in this sequin pack.

To create the shaker, I adhered some acetate behind the window, then three layers of foam tape around it. I left a larger gap at the bottom so the sequins remain mostly hidden until shaken. I also added the white frame over the top of the acetate, which helps to hide the sequins some more.

I love how the sequins only fully reveal themselves when the card is shaken, like a spray of confetti being thrown at a surprise party.

The January release goes live on January 10th!
