Handmade Cards, Pretty Pink Posh DT

Pretty Pink Posh Camping Friends

Today I’m sharing a card using the adorable Camping Friends set from Pretty Pink Posh. This set and coordinating dies are on sale this weekend (July 20-22, 2018) so it’s a great time to treat yourself!

I wanted to create night time camping scene. I began by cutting a 4.5 inch square white card base and also diecutting a white scalloped square.

I put aside the frame from the scalloped square, then stamped the tent image from the Camping Friends set in the centre of the inner square piece. I then die cut it out with the coordinating die. I’ll need this die cut tent image later. Whilst I was stamping images, I also stamped a critter and some grass.

I lined the scalloped square over the card base, and stamped the tent image through the aperture, this time directly on the card base.

I moved on to adding the background colour. I wanted to keep the frame of the square white, so kept this to one side. I used some temporary adhesive to keep the scalloped square in the right place on the card base. I also placed some scrap paper over the stamped image on the card base, so the colour didn’t get added to that. I then blended on some distress oxides to the square and card base. Blues and purples for the sky and some greens for the grass. To get a crisp line between them, I used some masking tape. I flicked the distress oxide blend with water for some nice details.

I removed the square from the card base and dried it with a heat tool. I then heat embossed some white stars, using a stamp from the Camping Friends stamp set, around the tent aperture. I also heat embossed a greeting from the same set.

Before adhering the square and frame to the card base, I adding some copic colour to the stamped tent image. Only the inside of the tent will be visible once the card is finished, so I didn’t spend time colouring everything in.

I adhered the square and frame to the card base with liquid adhesive. I then added some more copic colour to the die cut tent image from earlier. I fussy cut out the centre of the image as I’ll be using the stamped image on the card base for this part.

I added the die cut tent to the card with some foam tape. This gives a little dimension and makes the inside of the tent sit back on the card. The perfect space to add a critter on his camping trip! I also added some grass either side of the tent, to help set the scene further.
