I’m really enjoying making Christmas cards with the Pretty Pink Posh November release. There’s such a great mix of cute and elegant, so there really is something for everyone.
The Layered Tree is probably my favourite die set from the new release. It looks beautiful on its own for a simple Christmas card, or combined with new or previously released Pretty Pink Posh sets for scene cards.
For this card, I thought it would be fun to die cut the layered tree from patterned paper. I chose some papers from the Lawn Fawn Knit Picky paper pack.
On a card base, I blended on some distress oxides for a night time sky. I used seedless preserves, faded jeans and chipped sapphire. I flicked it with water and perfect pearls mix, for some shiny star droplet details. I made sure to mask off an area at the bottom edge of the card, which will act as my ground.
Once the background was dry, I embossed with WOW Opaque Bright White Super Fine embossing powder a greeting and some music notes from the Caroling Critters stamp set.
To create my scene, I die cut a Picket Fence die, and added a light blend of Pumice Stone distress oxide onto it. This will help it stand out from the white of the ground area. I adhered this to my card base.
I then added the layered tree to the left side of the card, added a gold glitter star and some silver glitter baubles, die cut with dies including in the Layered Tree die set. I also added some pearl white jewels, which look like tree lights.
Next, I stamped and coloured the Caroling Critters image, using copic markers. This is a smaller set and is similar to the previously released Fall Scene and Birthday scene stamp sets. Although these sets don’t have coordinating dies, you can fussy cut or just stamp and colour directly on your project.
I cut my scene out and adhered to my card with foam tape. I added some white gel pen and clear glitter pen details to finish this sweet Christmas carolling scene.
