Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m so excited to be joining this blog hop, celebrating Tonic Studios first monthly release called Garden Party!
If you’re following along the blog hop, you should have arrived here from the wonderful Keren Baker. I’ll list all of today’s blog hop participants below, if you want to start at the beginning.
My card today features the new Celebrate Success, Celebrate Friendship and Celebrate Sentiments stamp sets. These sets are great as the images are interchangeable, so you can use an accessory from one set to add to a critter from another set.
I decided to make a card for my niece, who starts school this September. She loves pigs so I definitely had to use the pig from the Celebrate Friendship stamp set on her card.
I stamped out lots of images using the Nuvo Black Shadow ink pad. This ink is perfect for colouring with alcohol markers.
Tonic Studios very kindly sent me some of their fabulous Nuvo Alcohol Markers to try. These markers are dual tipped, with a bullet nib for fine details and a chisel nib for larger areas. I love that these sets are sold in packs of 3 colours – a light, medium and dark, which blend really well together. It takes the guess work out of choosing colours.
The price point of these markers is also great, so they are perfect for beginners and those who don’t want the expense of copic markers. They aren’t refillable like copics, but they are much cheaper to replace when they run out of ink. The markers are also available to buy individually through the Tonic Studios UK and USA stores. Even better, the packs are currently on sale so it’s the perfect time to try them out.
Where I had gaps in my Nuvo marker collection, I added copic colours. I was very pleased with how both markers worked together so well. I’ve listed all the Nuvo marker sets I used at the end of my post.
To create my school background, I cut some kraft card and added score lines for texture. I then adhered thin strips of grey and brown woodgrain card to the top and bottom.
I cut a piece of black card and white heat embossed a greeting from the Celebrate Sentiments stamp set, using WOW Opaque Bright White Super Fine embossing powder. I used more of the woodgrain card to add a frame around the blackboard, then adhered to my card.
I also stamped another greeting from the Celebrate Sentiments stamp set at the bottom of the card. This set is packed with sentiments that work really well with the Celebrate themed sets.
I then added my images to the card with foam squares. I love how this school scene came together.
For some finishing touches, I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Party Pink for the heart on the school bag. I also used some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew to add shine to the apple and the hair bow.
