Handmade Cards, Pretty Pink Posh DT

Grateful Pumpkin Scene

Today I’m sharing a thanksgiving card featuring lots of fabulous new products from the Pretty Pink Posh August release.

I began by working on my background. I wanted some subtle detail as I would be adding lots of colourful images on top. One of my current favourite techniques is to emboss a stencil pattern on white card using WOW Silver Pearl embossing powder. This gives a beautiful tone on tone pearl effect. Subtle enough that it doesn’t distract from the rest of the card, but adds some pretty details to an otherwise plain background. I used the new Wafers stencil for this card.

Next, I die cut the Grateful Shaker die from white card and also some Lawn Fawn Knit Picky patterned paper. I adhered the white card pumpkin shape on my embossed panel, then used the patterned paper pieces from around the word in the shaker to add some colour to the pumpkin.

I stamped and coloured some images from the new Sunflowers stamp set, along with some images from the previously released Autumn Wreath stamp set. I used the Nuvo alcohol markers for all my images on this card. These are a fantastic affordable alternative to copic markers. They are sold in sets of three markers, that blend well together. I used the following colours (links at end of post):

  • Sunflower petals: 391, 405, 403, 401, Shadows 404
  • Sunflower centres: 494, 478, 472
  • Leaves: 410, 412, 416
  • Acorns: 465, 463, 478, 472
  • Berries: 379, 377, 374
  • Mushrooms: 379, 377, 374, 479, 472

I used the coordinating dies to cut all my images out, then arranged them on my card around the pumpkin.

To finish, I added some of the beautiful Espresso jewels, which are just perfect for the season.
