I enjoy making a Chinese New Year card each year for my niece and nephew. There are sets around specifically designed for Chinese New Year, but as I only make one card with this theme each year, I prefer to use stamps I already own and re-purpose them for the occasion.

CNY 2020 is Year of the Rat, so I reached for the Hello Bluebird Field Mice stamp set. I coloured the sweet images with copic markers, then die cut with the coordinating dies.

For the background, I cut a piece of Red Velvet Pearlescent card from Tonic Studios, slightly smaller than my card base. I used a couple of the Lawn Fawn Just Double Stitching circle dies to add subtle detail.

I heat embossed, with WOW Metallic Gold Rich super fine embossing powder, a sentiment from the Hello Bluebird North Star stamp set.
I used the Hello Bluebird Charlie Numbers die set to cut out the year, stacking a few white die cuts together with a gold glitter card top layer of a dimensional look. I adhered these in the centre of the stitched circles.

The flowers and leaves are from the Hello Bluebird Gallery Frame #2 die set. I die cut the flowers from gold mirror card and the leaves from a green card stock. Some I adhered with liquid glue, with others being popped up with foam tape.
I finished by adding the mice with foam tape, then some Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold jewels around the card to finish.
