Handmade Cards, Hello Bluebird DT

Pantone Colour of the Year 2020

I was inspired by the Pantone Colour of the Year for my card today. This year, it’s Classic Blue, which is described by Pantone as ‘a timeless and enduring blue hue, …elegant in its simplicity.

I began with a piece of Hero Arts Nautical card stock, which is a lovely navy blue. I inked the Hello Bluebird Petal Play background stamp with embossing ink, then heat embossed the pattern on the card with WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder.

I love the look of the white embossed Petal Play background on the blue card. It makes me think of a beautiful Mediterranean style tiled floor.

With that thought in mind, I trimmed a piece of the embossed panel for the floor of my scene, adhering it to my card base. I added a piece of white card at the top, then a thin strip of the blue card between them.

I stamped and copic coloured images from the Hello Bluebird Field Mice and Bee Happy stamp sets, die cutting them with the coordinating dies. I used the dies to cut more layers from white card, adding them to the back of the coloured images for even dimension. As I don’t plan to overlap my images, this is much easier than using foam tape.

I stamped a sentiment from the Hello Bluebird Field Mice stamp set, then added the images to my card to finish.

I love that cute mouse skipping across the floor to pick a strawberry!
