Spellbinders November 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit

Today I’m sharing a card I made with the Spellbinders November 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil kit and the add-on set.

This month, you get the Merry Christmas Wishes kit with 4 plates and 1 cutting die. The beautiful foiled ornaments are wonderful to colour and I love the accompanying sentiments.

The Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil kit is a monthly subscription and a great way to build your collection of glimmer plates and foils.

You will need the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine to use with this subscription, plus a compatible die cutting machine. I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. A list of compatible machines is available on the Spellbinders website.

As I wanted to use my Nuvo Shimmer Powders to watercolour the ornaments, I first foiled the plate onto watercolour card with Polished Brass foil, which is included in this months kit.

I used a rainbow of Nuvo Shimmer Powders to colour each ornament, mixing the colours where the ornaments overlap. As the foil resists the watercolour, it’s easy to dab it away the colour from the foiled areas. 

I let the watercolour air dry, then used the die included in the kit to die cut the edge of the ornaments. 

On my card base, I adhered a piece of Tonic Studios Golden Polkadot Foiled Black Kraft card. The jewel colours of the ornaments really glow against the dark background.

If you have the Twinkle Lights glimmer plate, you can create a similar effect to the Polkadot card I used.

I foiled the large Christmas sentiment glimmer plate and the smaller sentiment onto black card, using the same Polished Brass foil. I then trimmed the sentiments down into strips and adhered them on my card.

To finish, I adhered some Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold jewels at the top of each of the ornaments.
