Colour Blocking with Spellbinders Watercolor Florals

Today I have three projects to share, highlighting the Spellbinders Watercolor Florals Collection by Sushma Hegde.

This beautiful collection is perfect for watercolour but I wanted to show how fabulous these images are with colour blocking on my projects today.

Card 1

For my first card, I began by cutting pieces of card to 4.25 x 4.25 inches – one white card square and one blue card square.

I arranged the floral images from the Fragrant Flowers stamp set in to my stamping platform, so I can stamp the images in the same position for both pieces of card.

I stamped the floral images with clear embossing ink, then embossed them with a navy embossing powder. I repeated this step for both pieces of card, then used a trimmer to cut them horizontally.

On the blue top piece, I embossed a sentiment from the Floral Beauties stamp set with white embossing powder. I then adhered this piece and the other half in white card to a square card base.

I adhered a thin strip of gold card where the two card pieces meet, to give a pretty finishing touch.

I created a second card in this style, using purple card, with a sentiment from the Wildflower Sentiments stamp set embossed with the same navy blue embossing powder.

Card 2

Continuing the colour block theme for my second card, I cut 4 square pieces of coloured card, in yellow, blue, pink and grey. They are all sized at 1.5 inches square.

On the grey square, I embossed a sentiment from the Wildflower Sentiments stamp set with white embossing powder.

On the other three squares, I embossed images from the Greenery and Blooms stamp set, using navy embossing powder.

I used foam tape to adhere the four squares to my card base, then adhered a thin strip of gold card along one edge of the grey square.

Card 3

For my last project, I stepped up the colour block technique, creating a three colour block in the centre of my card.

On a white piece of card, I embossed the large image from the Field of Flowers stamp set with navy embossing powder.

I repeated this step, embossing the image with navy embossing powder on yellow, blue and pink card panels.

I cut a section from each of the three colours of card and adhered it on the white embossed panel, to create a 3-colour block in the centre.

Under the main image on the white panel, I embossed in navy a sentiment from the Wildflower Sentiments stamp set. I then attached the panel to a card base.

To finish, I added a strip of gold card to the edge of the colour block section.
