Spellbinders Birdhouses Through the Seasons

Today I’m sharing a card made with products from the Spellbinders Birdhouses Through the Seasons Collection by Vicky Papaioannou. This is a beautiful collection of different birdhouses, decorative elements, sweet birds, and fun sentiments.

I’m using the Build a Winter Birdhouse and Sweet Birds on a Branch die sets on my Christmas card today.

I began with the background, which was inspired by a card I made last Christmas. I love the grey with pops of red.

I blended some Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink on to my white card panel. I faded the grey into the white for my wintry scene, and added some a Black Soot distress oxide ink at the very top for more depth.

To add texture and the look of snow fall, I flicked the panel with white acrylic paint mixed with water. For some darker drops, I flicked watered down Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink over the panel too. I then set my panel aside to work on the rest of the card.

I die cut two branches from the Sweet Birds on a Branch die set, using woodgrain card. I arranged these together, adhering with glue, and trimming away part of the top branch so it looked a little different.

The holly leaves and berries are from the Build a Winter Birdhouse die set. I cut these out from coloured card, and added shadows with my copic markers.

Next, I worked on the birdhouse. I die cut the birdhouse from blue card stock and used my copic markers again to add some depth. There is a heart die cut that can be used with the birdhouse, and I layered some black card to show through the openings. For the roof, I die cut the birdhouse again, this time from grey woodgrain card. I trimmed the roof portion away, added shadows with my copic markers, then adhered it over the blue birdhouse. I also added some white glitter card snow on the roof.

In the Sweet Birds on a Branch die set, there is a bird that looks like a cardinal. I die cut it from white card and coloured the pieces with copic markers. I used liquid glue to assemble it and added some gold card behind for the eye.

I adhered my panel to a 4.75 inch card base and built my scene on top. Most of the pieces are adhered with liquid glue, with a little bit of foam tape behind the bird where it sits on the card base.
I finished with a gold foiled sentiment, from Yana’s Christmas Sentiments glimmer set.

Thank you for joining me for a look at the new Birdhouses Through the Seasons Collection from Spellbinders.
