Spellbinders 20th Birthday Celebration

Today I’m sharing a card as part of the Spellbinders Birthday Celebration event.

Spellbinders are celebrating their 20th birthday with a fabulous Birthday Celebrations collection, releasing today.

I’m using the Stitched Fringe Cake die set and the Hand Drawn Loops glimmer plate on my card today. I decided on a colour palette of gold, black and white.

The Stitched Fringe Cake die set comes with 6 cutting dies. There’s one for the fringe layer and another for the stitching layer, along with a frame die which you can use on it’s own or to cut out the stitching layer. You also get the candle dies.

I die cut the layers and candles from different card. I especially love the sparkle black and white card from Papermill Direct.

I used white and metallic gold thread to add the stitching detail to both the fringe and stitching layers. This is quick and easy to do. I then layered these stitched card pieces over gold layers cut with just the frame die. The gold shows through the stitching holes for a nice finishing touch.

On one of the gold pearlescent layers, I foiled a sentiment from a previously released glimmer sentiment set, using gold foil.

For the background, I used the new Hand Drawn Loops glimmer plate. This is a fantastic background plate. I foiled it twice, using gold foil, to fill the 5.25” square card panel.

I adhered the foiled background to a card base, then added the cake layers and candles on top to finish.
