Fly a Kite with Watercolour

As the fabulous Pretty Pink Posh Fly a Kite stamp set and coordinating dies are on sale this weekend (April 20-22, 2018), I thought I’d share another card using it.

I usually go straight for my copics when colouring. I love the look of watercolour, though, so every so often I’ll reach for my zig clean colour real brush pens.

I wanted a soft watercolour look for this card, featuring the Pretty Pink Posh Fly A Kite stamp set. I began by stamping the images in salty ocean distress ink on to a piece of watercolour paper.

To keep the colour of the sky soft, I scribbled the zig markers on to an acrylic block first, before picking up the colour with a water brush. I wanted the kite colours to be stronger, so I added the marker directly to the paper, and blended out with the water brush.

I used the heart cluster outline image from the Pretty Pink Posh Cupid Friends stamp set, added some colour directly to the stamp with a pink zig pen, then stamped them a few times on the background. I used the water brush to soften the stamping and colour in the images.

Once everything was dry, I chose a sentiment from the Pretty Pink Posh Encouraging Greetings stamp set, and stamped it in black ink on to the panel.

On a card base, I adhered a piece of patterned paper, then added the watercoloured panel on the top to finish.
