Handmade Cards, Interactive

Home Is Where The Heart Is Magic Iris Card

Lawn Fawn are the best at creating interactive dies. The Magic Iris die is their latest and it’s so much fun! It’s also easy to use.

I purchased the Magic Iris Add-on, to allow me to hide the iris mechanism behind a scene on my cards.

I decided to make a new home card using this Happy Village stamp set and the Magic Iris die set.

Just a quick note, Lawn Fawn have a great video explaining how to put together the magic iris so I won’t go into details here.

Background:

For the scene, I first die cut the Magic Iris Add-on from white card, then ran the die cut through the machine again with the Stitched Cloud backdrop. I blended some Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink over the background and the circle piece die cut from the centre.

Next, I took a piece of paper from the Really Rainbow Scallops 6×6 paper pad. I cut a piece using the Magic Iris add-on, so the stitching matches the rest of the background. I added the paper to the circle piece too, so it lines up.

I copic coloured and die cut some Happy Village images, then added them to the background. I coloured one of the houses more brightly as this will be the new home in the centre of the card when the iris opens.

The greeting is from the Wavy Banners stamp set, die cut with the Wavy Banner die set. I adhered the little car above to look like it’s driving along the banner towards the new house.

Magic Iris:

For the Magic Iris mechanism, I used white card for most of it. I used some Spiffy Speckles 6×6 paper for the three ‘sausage’ parts of the mechanism.

Once it was put together, I stamped a greeting from the Happy Village set onto the closed iris.

I attached the magic iris behind the background panel, making sure it was in the closed position. I adhered the Add-On pull tab on too.

To help adhere the circle to the card base, I used the background panel with the iris in the open position. I then used foam tape to adhere the background to the card base to finish.

I had so much fun creating this card. If you enjoy making interactive cards, the Magic Iris is a must have.
