Spellbinders March 2020 Small Die of the Month

Today I’m sharing a card made with the Spellbinders March 2020 Small Die of the Month.

This month, you get the ’24 Carrot’ set, featuring 9 Easter themed cutting dies. A great set for making Easter cards or gift tags, as I’ve done.

The Small Die of the Month Club is a monthly subscription featuring an exclusive set of small versatile dies that cut, emboss, and stencil.

For those that want to join multiple clubs and save, Spellbinders offers Value Clubs.

For my inspiration project, I decided to make some Easter tags. The carrot die in the set is large enough to work well as a tag on an Easter gift.

Both tags are created the same way, just with different patterned paper and sentiments.

To create my tag, I die cut the following layers using the carrot tag:

  • 2 layers from FSJ Citrus Cooler cardstock
  • 2 layers from white cardstock
  • 1 layer from patterned paper – I used Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring 6×6 papers

I also cut a fussy cut a backing layer from white card, to be able to stack all the frame and inner pieces of the carrot die onto.

I die cut the large leaf image 6 times from FSJ Limeade Splash cardstock. I wanted to add 3 leaves to the carrot but, to add more stability to the leaves, I adhered 2 layers together.

Don’t forget: add a punched hole in each of the inner pieces of the die cut carrot before adhering them to the tag, so you can add some thread at the end.

Here is how I stacked my tag layers:

  1. Top Layer: orange frame and patterned paper inner piece
  2. White layer frame and inner piece
  3. Backing layer – it’s best to start here and work outwards
  4. White layer frame and inner piece
  5. Leaves – I adhered them between the white layer and back layer frames
  6. Back layer: orange frame and inner

You could use less layers if you wanted to, but I like that this gives a nice sturdy tag.

For the Easter bunny, I used the following cardstock:

  • Rabbit body: FSJ Tin Pail
  • Ears & Nose: FSJ Peaches & Cream
  • Eyes: Black

The standing bunny is fun as she can hold something in her paws. I used the March 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month to foil some Easter sentiments. The foils I chose were Pink and Skylight.

I used liquid adhesive to add the sentiment banner, then foam tape to add the Easter bunny to the tag.

To finish, I tied some gold string to the top of my tag, ready to add to some Easter chocolate.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed seeing the card I made with the Spellbinders March 2020 Small Die of the Month.
