Spellbinders Christmas Foiled Basics by Yana Smakula

Today I’m sharing cards featuring some fabulous products from the Spellbinders Christmas Foiled Basics collection by Yana Smakula.

This is a beautiful collection for creating holiday cards. I think foiling always makes projects look extra special.

My cards today use the must-have Yana’s Christmas Sentiments set, along with the versatile Christmas Organic Foliage set. Both sets feature coordinating dies.

Card 1

For my first card, I wanted to create a tone on tone background with the Christmas Organic Foliage set.

I glimmered lots of the foliage onto different tones of teal card, using Champagne foil. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

Next, I arranged the die cut foiled images onto another panel of dark teal card, adhering them with liquid glue. By using the die cut images, rather than foiling directly on the card base, it adds texture and also allows for some variation in tone with the different colour poinsettias amongst the foliage.

I trimmed away any overhanging pieces, then adhered the panel onto my card base. I added thin strips of gold and green card to give a nice finished edge to the panel.

I chose a greeting from the Yana’s Christmas Sentiments set, glimmering it with the same Champagne foil onto white card. I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment. To add dimension, I added two more of the die cuts behind, then adhered it to my card base to finish.

Card 2

For my second card, I began by foiling some of the Christmas Organic Foliage plates with Polished Brass onto kraft card. For the flowers, I used Champagne foil on navy and red cardstock.

To create my background, I used the Twinkle Lights glimmer hot foil plate with Speckled Prism foil onto a panel of white card. I layered this onto navy cardstock, to match the glimmered flower, then adhered it to my card base.

I arranged the foliage and flowers on my card, adhering with liquid glue and foam squares for dimension.

To finish, I foiled another greeting from the Yana’s Christmas Sentiments set, this time with Polished Brass foil onto white card. As before, I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment and layered more die cuts behind for dimension, before adhering to my card base.
