Spellbinders Color Block Mini Shapes Collection

Today I’m sharing a set of cards made with products from the Spellbinders Color Block Mini Shapes Collection.

This fantastic collection features dies that cut tessellating shapes. Each set has both the background shape and a die that cuts the individual frames. The possibilities for colours and designs are endless.

There are 8 different shape sets in the collection. I’m using three of the shapes on my cards today – hexagons, petals and drops.

For each project, I cut the background and frame dies twice from 6 colours of different card. I found that having a petal shaped paint palette was very useful to sort my die cut pieces. It was really easy to adhere the frames onto the background shapes. I mixed the colours together to get lots of different combinations.

Card 1 – Hexagons

The Color Block Mini Hexagons tesselate really well. I immediately thought of honeycombs, so cut the pieces from orange and yellow card, along with some gold satin mirror card.

I adhered the hexagons to the edge of an A2 card base, then added some sweet bees and sentiment from a Hello Bluebird stamp set.

Card 2 – Petals

For my second card, I used greens with blues and purple. The Color Block Mini Petals will have small gaps when tessellated.

I adhered them to the bottom edge of an A2 card base. The beautiful peacock and sentiment are from Pretty Pink Posh.

Card 3 – Drops

The Color Block Mini Drops made me think of raindrops. These tesselate well too, but I decided to adhere them to an A2 card base, leaving larger spaces between the shapes.

The lovely cat and sentiment are from Hello Bluebird.

This is one of my favourite collections from Spellbinders. I really enjoyed the process of choosing colour combos and piecing the shaped frames together.
